In terms of the number of vehicles converted, and the jobs given to the company, Ford was the biggest name that either Harry Ferguson Research or FF Developments dealt with. Starting with conversions of the then new Mustang, successive models included the Zephyr V6, the Capri, the RS200 Group B rally car and the Escort Cosworth Turbo. Around the time the Mustang was on the drawing board, Roy Lunn at Ford's research facility at Birmingham was enquiring about a 4x4 version of the GT40!
The one car in which the Ferguson Formula reached its zenith was arguably the Sierra 4x4, with perhaps the Scorpio 4x4 a close second in terms of production numbers. Both used variations of the same driveline, as shown in this cutaway of the Scorpio
