These were the factory specs. Emission requirements were getting tighter every year and it was a learning experience. So I don't know if they are optimum for performance or toeing the limit of missions. Probably the latter, especially at idle (probably too lean).

To eliminate the off idle stumble and low speed flat spot around 3200 rpm, you shouldn't have to do much more than install larger Idle Jets. 58 Idle Jets may take care of it on a bone stock engine, but 60's may be required. 62's on a lightly modified engine.

When correcting a lean idle mixture, you can go a few steps with the Idle Jets alone. But if you need a big change, don't overlook the Idle Jet Holder too. The Holders don't get as much press as the Jets do, but they also play a significant roll in the idle mixture. There's no point putting a big jet in a little holder... it won't work. It's unlikely that you will have to mess with the Idle Jet Holders on a stock or near/stock 910 Turbo Engine.

If the idle circuit is running too lean, putting larger and larger Idle Jets on a small holder may ultimately exceed the capacity of the small holder. At some point, you will stop seeing incremental increases in richness with larger jets. Then you will have to step up in holder size to support the larger jet's flow capacity.

If it's running too rich, installing smaller and smaller Idle Jets on a large holder should still yield a progressively leaner mixture... ie, the effect of the Holder size isn't as harsh going down as it is going up.

Note that lighter floats are set higher (don't hang down as far... smaller dimension) and heavier floats are set lower (bigger dimension). Dellorto floats are available in several different weights, "For a given fluid level" a lighter float will naturally ride higher. In marine terms, more "freeboard".

Some float weights aren't available any more (or are at least hard to find), so you may have to compromise. If you have to use a different weight float, set it to the height appropriate for that weight. For instance, don't replace a 10 gr float with an 8.5 gr float and set it to 16.5 - 17.0 mm.

I have 8.5g floats in my carbs. I've played around with the height setting and settled on 14.5mm as working best. Surprise... the typical spec for 8.5 g floats is 14.5 -15.0 mm.

Either the weight or the float part number (?) should be engraved on the float. I've seen 7g, 8.5g and 10.0g floats... I don't know if there are more. The basic part number for the floats is 7298-99-_ _ with two final digits for each specific weight:

01 = 10g      16.5 - 17.0 mm
02 = 8.5g      15.5 - 16.0 mm
03 = 7.0g      14.5 - 15.0 mm

FYI, here's the set-up data for the 907 and 912 naturally aspirated engines as well.    It probably won't help you, but...
